Set to be the biggest sale of 2024: Kanal İstanbul move from AKP-run municipality

Preparations are underway for a massive sale along the route of the Kanal İstanbul project, which the government has promoted as its "crazy project."

According to a report by Cengiz Karagöz from Cumhuriyet; the municipality has put 34 properties located on the Kanal İstanbul route up for sale. These properties are situated in the Durusu, Haraççı, Taşoluk, Boğazköy, Hadımköy, Bolluca, and Ömerli neighborhoods.

SET TO BE THE BIGGEST SALE OF 2024

The estimated value of the properties put up for sale via tender is 1.3 billion TL. With these properties put out to tender, the Arnavutköy Municipality will have carried out the largest public-led sale on the project route in 2024.

In recent months, the municipality had put properties in the region worth 175.9 million TL up for sale. The Urban Transformation Presidency, affiliated with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, had also offered many properties in Arnavutköy for sale. With the latest properties put out to tender, the value of properties put up for sale by public authorities on the project route in 2024 has exceeded 2 billion TL.

COURT HAD ANNULLED

Furthermore, as a result of lawsuits filed by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), all plans for the region were annulled by the Istanbul 11th Administrative Court in separate decisions issued in December 2023 and January 2024. In another case, the Istanbul 3rd Administrative Court had annulled the zoning plans for the 2nd stage, where the Emlak Konut Dursunköy project is located, on December 29, 2023.
