Bilal Erdoğan targets TÜSİAD: 'Where were they when the disaster of the century happened?'

Speaking at the Turkey Entrepreneur Meeting – From Idea to Enterprise 2025 and the 12th GİV Entrepreneurship Awards program held yesterday at the Bahariye Mevlevihanesi in Eyüpsultan, İlim Yayma Foundation Board of Trustees Chairman Bilal Erdoğan made statements targeting TÜSİAD during his remarks on stage.

"BIG CAPITAL IS ACCUMULATING, NOT INVESTING"

During his speech, Bilal Erdoğan pointed to shortcomings in the investment process in Turkey and emphasized the financing responsibility of the private sector, stating the following:

"The side that is lacking for us is private financing. Meaning, it must always be the state providing it. We have reached a period where, after Turkey has realized so much infrastructure investment, the citizen should now be saying, 'It is my turn, what will I do?' When we look at the investments made in Turkey in the last 23 years, they have either been done by the state or done to the extent of state incentives. Beyond that, if there is anyone doing it, it is our SMEs, our Anatolian tigers. In other words, big capital is unfortunately continuing to accumulate the money it has accumulated."

"WHERE WAS TÜSİAD WHEN THE DISASTER OF THE CENTURY HAPPENED?"

Bilal Erdoğan attacked TÜSİAD over the February 6 earthquakes, arguing that big capital did not take responsibility, and continued his speech with these words:

"Where was TÜSİAD when the disaster of the century happened? Couldn't TÜSİAD have come out and said, 'We, as TÜSİAD members, are building 50 thousand houses'? What happened, where did the money you accumulated go? You are not investing. Come on, you build 50 thousand houses for the earthquake victims in this country; look, the state is building 500 thousand houses. Again, those who reached into their pockets were those who were somehow labeled as 'cronies.' They came and stood by the citizens and rushed to build the citizens' houses. Therefore, the sin and burden of the capital owner, especially the big capital owner, in this country are great."
