Body found in the Meriç River: Identification efforts underway
A male body drifting on the surface of the Meriç River in Edirne has prompted an emergency response following reports from citizens, and a comprehensive investigation into the incident has been launched.
Citizens who spotted a male body drifting on the surface of the Meriç River in Edirne reported the situation. Upon receiving the report, teams took action, recovered the body from the water, and began efforts to identify it.
Citizens walking on the Meriç Bridge were alarmed when they noticed the body drifting in the water and immediately called the 112 Emergency Call Center to report the situation.

AFAD, fire department, medical, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. AFAD teams entered the river by boat and brought the body to the shore. With the assistance of fire department teams, the body was sent to the Trakya University Faculty of Medicine Hospital Morgue for an autopsy.
While efforts to identify the individual are underway, the police have launched an investigation into the incident.
