Body of soldier who went AWOL 6 years ago found in wooded area in İzmir!

The body of a specialist sergeant who went AWOL from his unit 6 years ago has been found in a wooded area in the Kemalpaşa district of İzmir.

According to the information obtained, a citizen grazing his goats in a wooded area in Ansızca Neighborhood saw human bones inside a gendarmerie uniform and reported the situation to the gendarmerie.

During the investigation conducted by the gendarmerie teams who arrived at the scene, it was determined that the body, which was found with a pistol, identification, and mobile phone, belonged to Specialist Sergeant M.F., who had gone AWOL from the Ulucak Gendarmerie Station where he was serving in 2018 and had not been seen since.

The body of M.F. was sent to the İzmir Council of Forensic Medicine following the prosecutor's examination. Meanwhile, while it is estimated that the individual died in 2018, the exact cause of death will be determined as a result of the autopsy to be performed.
