Bolu Mountain Tunnel reopened to traffic

The Istanbul-bound lane of the Bolu Mountain Tunnel on the Anatolian Motorway was closed to traffic on July 31. Due to the extension work on the tunnel tube in the direction of Istanbul, the road remained closed for 38 days.

The work to extend the tunnel by 67 meters and replace 4 expansion joints on two viaducts has been completed. For 38 days, drivers wishing to travel toward Istanbul were diverted off at the Abant toll booths to use the D-100 highway.

Teams accelerated their efforts to end the traffic ordeal on the D-100 Bolu Mountain pass, where kilometers-long vehicle queues had formed, and the tunnel extension was finished 12 days ahead of the planned schedule.

Last night, crews laid asphalt and performed road marking work in the area. The Istanbul-bound direction, which had been closed for 38 days, was reopened to traffic as of the evening hours. The final state of the tunnel was captured from the air by a drone.
