Bomb threat on THY flight: Plane makes emergency landing

A bomb threat was made against a Turkish Airlines passenger plane flying from Warsaw to Istanbul. The aircraft made an emergency landing in Bucharest, the capital of Romania.

According to information obtained, the Turkish Airlines Boeing 737 aircraft operating flight TK-1766 took off from Warsaw Airport at 19:00 local time to conduct its flight to Istanbul.

A bomb threat was made against the Turkish Airlines plane as it approached Romanian airspace.

Following the threat, the flight's captain declared an emergency and contacted the Bucharest Airport Air Traffic Control Center in Romania to request permission to land. Consequently, Romanian police implemented extensive security measures on the airport apron.

Ambulance and fire crews were kept on standby on the apron during the Turkish Airlines plane's landing at Bucharest Airport.

The Turkish Airlines plane, which was the subject of the bomb threat, landed at Bucharest Airport without incident.

Romanian police initiated a detailed search of the aircraft's cabin and cargo hold.

The investigation revealed that the threat was a hoax.

After the passengers were allowed back on board, the plane took off from Bucharest to complete its journey and is expected to land in Istanbul at 03:20.
