In an incident that occurred in Düzce, bones stripped of their meat, which were determined to belong to an equine animal, were found in a dumpster at the new industrial site.

Following the incident, police teams and officials from the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry took action and determined through their investigation that the bones belonged to a horse.

Deepening their investigation, the teams determined that an individual had left the bones during the night. Upon this, the teams took action and apprehended the individual.

It was determined that the individual, whose statement was taken at the police station, owns a business in the food and beverage sector. The teams are working to determine where the individual slaughtered the horse and whether he used it in his own business or sold it.

Düzce Governor Selçuk Aslan, Deputy Governor Ömer Yılmaz, Düzce Provincial Police Chief İbrahim Ergüder, and Gendarmerie Commander Col. Murat Kılıç held a press conference.

Speaking at the meeting, Governor Selçuk Aslan said, “It was determined that there were horse bones in a dumpster following a tip-off from citizens. Samples were taken by police and teams from the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry. The veterinary report confirmed that the bones belonged to a horse. Police teams examined security cameras in the area and apprehended the perpetrator. The individual has a business. We have taken samples from that business and other businesses as well. These samples have been sent to the laboratory. We are waiting for the results. We are very clear on this: it is very clear that the bone fragments in our possession were left by the perpetrator we caught. Where did this person slaughter this horse, and why did he leave it here? Our work on the answers to these questions continues. The issue we are investigating is where this horse was slaughtered and where the meat belonging to these bone fragments is; our colleagues are investigating the answers to these questions”.
