Journalist Elif Akkuş, who has worked at TRT for 25 years and was suspended for three months without justification some time ago, and was detained on October 16, was admitted to the "Coronary Intensive Care Unit" due to health problems.
Akkuş, who was discharged today, later went to the Ankara Courthouse to give a statement to the prosecutor.
Following a one-and-a-half-hour interrogation by the prosecutor, Elif Akkuş was referred by the prosecutor to the Criminal Court of Peace with a request for her arrest.
It has emerged that the investigation in question was initiated upon the complaints and criminal reports of TRT General Manager Mehmet Zahid Sobacı and several other complainants.
SCANDAL WITHIN A SCANDAL
Last night, the detention order for Elif Akkuş had supposedly been lifted, and the police waiting at the door of her hospital room had left. However, upon the prosecutor's request, while the hospital was discharging Akkuş in the morning hours, the police arrived again, and the procedures were carried out under their supervision.
The same police officers followed journalist Akkuş as she went to her lawyer Nazlı Çubuklu's office.
Akkuş arrived at the courthouse under police escort with her lawyers Hüseyin Ersöz and Çubuklu.
''WE LIFTED IT, BUT WE DIDN'T''
It was learned that during Akkuş's interrogation, when lawyer Ersöz explained this situation and asked, "Hadn't you lifted the detention order?", the prosecutor replied, "Yes, we lifted it, but actually we didn't."
After the interrogation, the prosecutor who referred Elif Akkuş to the criminal court of peace with a request for arrest also sent a document stating that a detention order had been issued along with it.
It was learned that a detention order was also issued for Sinan Akyüz, one of the other suspects who was released yesterday under judicial control conditions.
ELIF AKKUŞ FELL ILL
While waiting in front of the Criminal Court of Peace, Elif Akkuş fell ill once again. Her lawyers called 112 and requested an ambulance. The arriving doctors stated that Akkuş's blood pressure was 17/10 and wanted to keep her under observation. The lawyers explained the situation and wanted to meet with the judge to request permission. However, the judge did not accept the meeting. For now, the doctors found a solution in bringing blood pressure medication and a stretcher from the ambulance.
FELL ILL AGAIN BUT WAS TAKEN FOR INTERROGATION
TRT reporter Elif Akkuş, who was referred to the Criminal Court of Peace with a request for arrest, fell ill again. As of now, Akkuş has entered the courtroom on a stretcher accompanied by a doctor, and her interrogation has begun.
SAID GOODBYE TO HER MOTHER
An arrest warrant was issued for Elif Akkuş. While saying goodbye to her mother, Akkuş said, "This is my proudest departure!" Her mother, Gülseren Akkuş, said, "My daughter, this is the reward for these 25 years; go with your head held high, come back with your head held high."
"INFORMATION SOURCE" ALLEGATION
Lawyer Hüseyin Ersöz stated that Akkuş was detained on the allegation that she was an "information source" for posts made on a social media account on X (Twitter) named 'Yıldız İstihbarat'.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Elif Akkuş, who has worked at TRT for 25 years, was suspended on April 20 without any justification.
Following the 3-month "Suspension from Duty Measure," Akkuş was not allowed into the TRT building. Akkuş initiated a legal process regarding the issue by filing a lawsuit at the Ankara 25th Administrative Court against the action taken unlawfully.
During this process, Akkuş's lawyer Ersöz also stated that the 3-month suspension had ended, but his client was still not being allowed into the TRT building and her petitions were not being answered.
Akkuş was detained in Ankara on October 16.
Akkuş was later admitted to the "Coronary Intensive Care Unit" due to her medical history, the inability to lower her blood pressure, and the fact that she was in "life-threatening danger."
Later, a request for arrest was issued for Akkuş, who went to the Ankara Courthouse to give a statement.
