Breaking News: Adıyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere suspended from office
CHP's Adıyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere, who was placed under house arrest, has been suspended from office by a decision of the Ministry of Interior.
The Ministry of Interior has suspended CHP's Adıyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere from office.
The Ministry's statement included the following:
"Regarding the investigation conducted into Adıyaman Mayor Abdurrahman TUTDERE for the crime of “Extortion by Coercion,” and following his placement under judicial control with a house arrest order by the Istanbul 8th Criminal Judgeship of Peace dated 08.07.2025 and numbered 2025/855,
He has been suspended from office as a temporary measure by the Ministry of Interior in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393.
Respectfully announced to the public. 10.07.2025"

WHAT HAPPENED?
CHP's Tutdere was detained in a dawn operation on July 5 as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB). A house arrest order had been issued for Tutdere.
