Prof. Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan made a statement following the earthquake. Ercan said, "The entire Earth's crust is still in free oscillation. All active faults are creaking. These will produce earthquakes of various sizes. Now, a small earthquake of M3.7 occurred off the coast of Silivri, Istanbul. I do not expect a major earthquake to follow."
