Breaking News: Allegations of police blockade at CHP Esenyurt District Headquarters! Statement from Özgür Çelik

The AKP government has appointed trustees to 4 municipalities in the last 5 days.

Following the CHP-run Esenyurt Municipality, trustees were also appointed to the Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti municipalities under DEM Party administration.

The CHP went to the Esenyurt Municipality to attend the municipal council meeting. While the municipal building was blockaded by police, the CHP's group room in the municipality was locked by the trustee administration.

ALLEGATION: CHP ESENYURT BUILDING UNDER BLOCKADE

While tensions continue in front of the Esenyurt Municipality, it was alleged that the CHP Esenyurt District Headquarters building was also placed under a police blockade.

CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik made a statement regarding the issue. Stating that they had received reports, Çelik announced that he would go to the CHP Esenyurt District Headquarters with deputies.

Çelik's statements are as follows:

"We received a report that the CHP Esenyurt District building has been blockaded. The CHP Esenyurt District Headquarters cannot be blockaded. Entry to a political party cannot be prevented by anyone. We will go there shortly with our deputies."

"OUR ENTRY TO THE DISTRICT BUILDING WAS ATTEMPTED TO BE PREVENTED"

Özgür Çelik and party members went to the CHP Esenyurt District Headquarters. A scuffle broke out between police teams and the crowd. CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik held a press conference with the party members accompanying him.

Çelik used the following expressions:

"At every stage, we were blockaded along with our party members, and our entry to the CHP District Building was attempted to be prevented. All of these are crimes. We will intervene in these legally. We declare once again that we are against trustees all over Turkey. Our Democracy Watch will continue in Esenyurt at 17:00."

TRUSTEE ADMINISTRATION DISMISSED DEPUTY MAYORS

Following the arrest of Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, the trustee appointed in his place, Can Aksoy, dismissed the deputy mayors.

CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik said in his statement in front of the municipality, "A letter stating that their duties have been terminated was served to Deputy Mayors Oktay Kılıç, Osman Yalçın, and Murat Düzgün by the trustee."

ÖZGÜR ÖZEL IS GOING TO MARDIN

Following the appointment of trustees to DEM Party municipalities, mayors Ahmet Türk, Gülistan Sönük, and Mehmet Karayılan were dismissed.

Mardin Governor Tuncay Akkoyun was appointed as trustee in place of Ahmet Türk, Batman Governor Ekrem Canalp in place of Gülistan Sönük, and Halfeti District Governor Hakan Başoğlu in place of Mehmet Karayılan.

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel decided to go to Mardin following the appointment of trustees to the Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti municipalities.

Özel will go to Mardin from Istanbul today on the 15:15 flight and will meet with the dismissed Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Türk.
