Breaking News: Cem Garipoğlu's DNA test completed
The DNA matching process for Cem Garipoğlu, whose grave was opened on October 3, has been completed. It has been announced that the bones taken from the grave belong to Cem Garipoğlu.
The examination of bone samples taken from the opened grave of Cem Garipoğlu, who surrendered 197 days after brutally murdering Münevver Karabulut in Istanbul 15 years ago and committed suicide in prison in 2014, has been completed.
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated, "It has been determined that the samples belong to Cem Garipoğlu and possess the exact same DNA profile as the individual who was determined to have committed suicide following an autopsy procedure in 2014."
The statement from the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is as follows:
"Following allegations that Cem Garipoğlu, who was determined to have committed suicide in prison and was buried, did not die and that the person buried was someone else, an exhumation was carried out on October 3, 2024, upon the request of the Karabulut family and the decision of the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Following the examination conducted by experts from the Istanbul Council of Forensic Medicine, DNA analyses on the bones, teeth, and all other samples were carried out with great diligence at the Department of Biology."
