CHP Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat, who was detained in Balıkesir within the scope of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has been referred to the courthouse.
Akpolat, who faces charges of "membership in a criminal organization," "rigging bids," and "unjust enrichment," had been held in custody at the Istanbul Police Department for 4 days. Akpolat is expected to give his statement to the prosecutor's office following a medical check-up.
In this context, a total of 40 people, whose statements were completed by the Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau teams of the Istanbul Police Department, were referred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan after their medical check-ups at Bayrampaşa State Hospital.
Additionally, it was learned that the procedures for Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, who was also subject to a detention warrant as part of the same investigation and had previously been arrested and removed from office, are being carried out in prison.
