Breaking News: Collapse at a construction site in Polatlı, Ankara! 2 workers lost their lives

A collapse occurred during sewage connection work for an apartment building in the Polatlı district of Ankara.

Efforts were launched to rescue the 2 workers who remained trapped under the soil.

2 WORKERS LOST THEIR LIVES

Teams reached the lifeless body of one of the workers.

The lifeless body of the second worker who remained under the soil was also recovered.

“THERE APPEARS TO BE MAJOR NEGLIGENCE HERE”

A friend of the workers claimed there was negligence in the incident.

Alaaddin Çınar, a friend of the workers trapped under the collapse, alleged that there was negligence, stating, “Because they went down below 5 meters, our 2 friends are currently under the collapse; they are trying to get them out. However, there appears to be major negligence here. Because I do this work, it should have been excavated widely with an excavator below 2 meters to prevent a collapse, or a cage should have been built and they should have descended with a cage. Because they did not descend with a cage, the collapse occurred. My 2 friends, with whom I work together, are currently under the collapse. This incident happened at 09:15, and they have been working until now. The whole team is here, but we could not reach them. They have most likely passed away. May God grant patience to their families and all of Polatlı. They were 2 young brothers, they were decent people, they were people I worked with,” he said.
