Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli issued a message for the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day.

TARGETED MEHMET ŞİMŞEK WITHOUT NAMING HIM

In his written statement, Bahçeli used harsh language and reacted to Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek's use of the term 'local people'.

Without naming Şimşek, Bahçeli stated, "No one will be able to deny that the corrupt mentality that serves to devalue the Turkish nation with the expression 'local people' is the primary culprit behind the scandals we have been exposed to in recent days."

HARSH REACTION TO DEM PARTY

Addressing current issues, Bahçeli also reacted harshly to the DEM Party.

The MHP leader stated, "It is a debt of honor to history, our ancestors, our homeland, and our nation to immediately strip those dishonorable individuals who cannot accept the Turkish flag of their Republic of Turkey citizenship, to seize their assets and properties, and furthermore, to initiate a closure case against the DEM Party, lift the immunity of separatist deputies, and stop stalling and playing for time by appointing inspectors."

Bahçeli's statement is as follows:

“On Friday, April 23, 1920, with the manifestation of national will in the single-story stone building in Ulus, the foundations of the Republic of Turkey were laid, and its torch was lit.

With recitations of the Holy Quran, sacrificed animals, amens poured from lips, and wishes torn from hearts, the First Parliament took its place on the stage of history with immense faith.

Elections were held within the scope of the Circular issued by Mustafa Kemal Pasha on March 19, 1920, and the elected deputies gathered in Ankara together with the deputies who joined from the Ottoman Parliament.

The Turkish nation stepped in personally to overcome its ill-fated destiny and renew its historical course.

In that building, where renovations were not yet complete at the time, deputies from every segment of society, every region of the country, and every professional group, even if they had different worldviews, came together with a passion for independence, with patriotism as their common denominator.

Until that day, no second nation had ever been heard of or seen on earth that rallied around its Parliament to wage war against humiliation and darkness, occupation and betrayal.

Indeed, the establishment of the Parliament is the democratic organization of the idea of national salvation and its taking root in the collective conscience.

The First Parliament became the name of faith against impossibility, the morality of rise against destruction, and the mind of the nation against tyrants; it formed armies, managed armies, and by running from victory to victory, it tore the enemy out of the sacred sanctuary of the homeland.

The opening of our Parliament, at a time when the struggle of nations was continuing ruthlessly, was the Turkish nation's;

- Source of meeting in national identity, national honor, and national goal with full consensus,

- Decision to store power and morale by shaking off the depression of years of losses,

- Determination to gather itself by ending surrenders and concessions,

- Heart of the national legitimacy provided by democratic, legal, and social consensus, even in a struggle waged with weapons.

The date of April 23, 1920, is, of course, the beginning of a period in which the political and legal infrastructure of the Republic of Turkey, which would declare its existence and independence to the whole world three years later, was prepared.

In this respect, the First Parliament is the founding will of the Republic of Turkey.

Both the conditions of the opening of the Grand National Assembly and all the events that followed are a historical warning and a sign of caution in terms of showing what kind of fate awaits the invaders, and even their collaborators, who attempt to reach out and speak against our destiny and our sacred values, and who try to test our strength.

In the dark years when the seven great powers descended upon us, the Turkish nation never compromised on its rights of existence, its honor of independence, and its dignity of will, and challenged the front of hostility at the cost of veteran status and martyrdom.

The First Parliament is the state of being equipped and organized as the ideal of courage, bravery, virtue, zeal, self-sacrifice, and wisdom of this challenge.

Shortly after the March 31 elections, the rampant provocations staged in some DEM-affiliated municipalities, the insulting treatment and treacherous harassment directed at the legal personality of the Republic of Turkey, are externally ordered actions of hostile remnants who have not learned from the past.

The separatist scoundrels who resist the singing of the National Anthem in a part of our homeland, who refuse the hoisting of the Turkish flag and the moment of silence for our martyrs, and who use rude and hurtful expressions against the Dear Atatürk and our President, cannot be children of this nation or members of the Republic of Turkey.

It is impossible to digest the rehearsals of showing our country as if it were under actual occupation.

No one will be able to deny that the corrupt mentality that serves to devalue the Turkish nation with the expression 'local people' is the primary culprit behind the scandals we have been exposed to in recent days.

It must be known that bowing to terror-lovers who are active by damaging the environment of internal peace under the pressure and suggestion of Global Imperialism, and normalizing and softening the spreading treason within the framework of freedom and democracy, is to pave the way for national disaster and to commit an offense against the state and the nation.

The red flag with the crescent and star is the symbol of our independence, and the National Anthem is the poetic call of our honor of freedom and our sense of unity and solidarity.

Whoever opposes these, whoever has a problem with them, must absolutely be held accountable by enforcing the mandatory provisions of the law.

Our dear nation is in a state of outrage in the face of these developments.

It is a debt of honor to history, our ancestors, our homeland, and our nation to immediately strip those dishonorable individuals who cannot accept the Turkish flag of their Republic of Turkey citizenship, to seize their assets and properties, and furthermore, to initiate a closure case against the DEM Party, lift the immunity of separatist deputies, and stop stalling and playing for time by appointing inspectors.

It is a matter of life and death that those who see the Republic of Turkey as a colony or a tent state pay the price, regardless of their responsibility.

It is our historical duty to warn that the puppets of terror, who strive to place the ballot box results in front of, or even above, our survival and independence, are playing with fire.

For this reason, I believe that knowing the meaning of the process that began with the opening of our National Assembly in detail will have a significant impact on correctly understanding the threats that have re-emerged in our state and national life.

The terror pawns trying to drag Turkey back into the conditions of Mondros and Sèvres must bear the consequences of this miscalculation in the most severe way.

It is a futile effort for those who could not defeat the Turkish nation even in the most difficult moments to attempt to try their luck once again with new methods.

The desire to reopen the pages of history, which have been closed with bitter and sweet memories, with unending feelings of revenge and inhumane slanders that we never deserved, is a danger we must be careful about.

Turkey's rise, just as it finds its meaning in the consciousness manifested on April 23, 1920, is possible with a collective understanding that aims for unity, not separation; meeting, not scattering; embracing, not fragmentation; and integration, not differentiation.

Today, as it was yesterday, our most important power of resistance against developments that haunt our brotherhood is our spirit of national unity and solidarity.

It is unthinkable for a nation whose Parliament is a Veteran, whose existence is a Veteran, and whose state is a Veteran, to turn a blind eye to political separatists who are involved in terror and treason and who have joined hands with foreign enemies.

Sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation, and the nation is Turkish.

No separatist focus, no despicable formation that aids and abets terrorism, no extension of a traitorous organization that fires bullets at our Mehmetçiks, and no remnant of occupation that harbors hostility toward our National Anthem and Turkish flag can have a place in the Veteran Parliament, nor can they have a single word to say in the name of democracy.

In the Veteran Parliament, which did not depart from the virtue of democracy even in the most turbulent moments and under the most difficult conditions yesterday, there is permission for every idea, but there is no permission, no allowance, and no opportunity for treason, separatism, or division, and there never will be.

It is my sincere wish that everyone adheres to this historical and national determination.

Just as the TBMM, which was opened three years before our Republic, heralded the birth of the new Turkish state, our bright children also herald the honorable and high future of our country.

Our nation will continue its existence with new generations raised from its bosom, and our state will continue to look to the future with hope with young generations.

On this occasion, I celebrate the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day of our dear children and all children in the world to whom today is dedicated, and I kiss them all on their eyes.

I commemorate with gratitude the honorable memories of the unknown heroes who lie in peace by sacrificing their existence in the geographies where we ruled for centuries.

I commemorate with mercy and respect our heroic martyrs who enabled us to come to life and exist in the Republic of Turkey today, the great Atatürk who entrusted us with the blessed Parliament, the honorable members of the first Parliament, and all the deputies who have passed into eternity.
