Breaking News: Double lawsuit against TÜSİAD executives!

An indictment has been prepared following the investigation conducted into the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) Board Chairman Orhan Turan and High Advisory Council (YİK) Chairman Mehmet Ömer Arif Aras.

The prosecutor's office has requested up to 5 years and 3 months of imprisonment for both individuals on charges of "publicly disseminating misleading information through press and media."

The prosecutor's office has separated the investigation conducted against the two individuals on allegations of "attempting to influence a fair trial" from the main case.

HOW DID THE PROCESS BEGIN?

Speaking at the TÜSİAD General Assembly meeting held on February 13, Orhan Turan and Ömer Aras made assessments regarding the social, economic, and political situation in Turkey.

In his speech, Turan stated, "Expulsion decisions are being made against lieutenants for the crime of indiscipline, yet in many incidents that cause public outrage such as earthquakes, fires, harassment, femicide, and workplace accidents, either the perpetrators are not found or they are released in a short time."

Ömer Aras, on the other hand, drew attention to recent trustee appointments, as well as detentions and arrests of journalists, and criticized the pressures on the media.

Pro-government media outlets targeted Turan and Aras.

Following the statements, within the scope of the investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Turan and Aras were taken to the police station on February 19 to have their statements taken.

After being questioned by the prosecutor, both individuals were released under judicial control, and a travel ban was imposed on them.
