Breaking News: Ece Üner summoned to testify!

Halk TV Main News Anchor Ece Üner has been summoned to testify.

Making a statement on her X account, Üner said, "I have been summoned to testify by the prosecutor's office; I do not yet know the reason. I will inform you when I find out. If my testimony takes longer than expected, we may not be able to be together on the Main News this evening."

WHY WAS ECE ÜNER SUMMONED TO TESTIFY?

It was announced that an investigation has been launched against Halk TV anchor Ece Üner for "publicly degrading judicial bodies" and "attempting to influence a fair trial" due to a tweet she wrote in response to journalist İsmail Saymaz's post on X, in which he explained that his passport had been seized and a travel ban had been imposed on him. In her tweet, Üner had written, "The character assassinations by FETÖ-remnant operation children have become tiresome."

While the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that it had launched the investigation ex officio, it was stated that instructions had been issued for Üner to be brought to the police station to have her statement taken.
