Breaking News... Erdoğan speaks at November 10 ceremony without saying 'Atatürk': 'If the Gazi had lived 10 more years...'
Speaking at the November 10 Atatürk Commemoration Ceremony, AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, "If the Gazi's life and health had allowed him to lead the country for at least another 10 years, we would undoubtedly have seen a completely different Turkey after World War II."
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan inaugurated the new campus of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History in Ankara.
In his speech, Erdoğan targeted the single-party era, stating, "We have paid a heavy price for the lack of vision of the single-party fascism that hindered our country's development, progress, and its ability to take its rightful place in the newly reconstructed world order."
Continuing his speech without saying 'Atatürk', Erdoğan said, "If the Gazi's life and health had allowed him to lead the country for at least another 10 years, we would undoubtedly have seen a completely different Turkey after World War II. Unfortunately, with the passing of the Gazi, we missed this opportunity. After transitioning to a multi-party political life, the coups, weak coalitions, and incompetent cadres that were inflicted upon us caused our country to fall behind in the global development race."
Key points from Erdoğan's remarks at the ceremony are as follows:
Every word, attitude, and action aimed at disrupting the unity and solidarity of this nation, regardless of the purpose, is a direct betrayal of the legacy of Gazi Mustafa Kemal.
Atatürk exploiters have recently gone off the rails to the point of joining hands with terrorist organizations and their extensions under various names. Turkey once suffered from 'wardrobe Atatürkists.' Today, the damage caused by social media Atatürkists has reached a level that rivals Turkey's enemies. We have not left, and will not leave, neither the Gazi nor the institutions, values, and goals of the Republic to these exploiters and these rootless merchants of ideology.
"THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHAKE THE GAZI'S PLACE IN OUR NATION'S HEART"
Just as those who want to turn Atatürk into an idol, those who completely ignore Atatürk will not be able to shake the Gazi's place in our nation's heart. We leave the unruly mob that serves the treacherous ambitions of imperialists against our country under the mask of Atatürkism to the judgment of our nation.
If the Gazi's life and health had allowed him to lead the country for at least another 10 years, we would undoubtedly have seen a completely different Turkey after World War II. Unfortunately, with the passing of the Gazi, we missed this opportunity.
"WE WILL COMPLETELY SEVER THE CONNECTION BETWEEN TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS AND OUR COUNTRY'S BORDERS"
We have significantly thwarted the attempt to besiege our country from its southern borders through the operations we have conducted and the safe zones we have created. Hopefully, in the coming period, we will complete the missing links of the safe zone we have established along our borders. In other words, we will completely sever the connection between terrorist organizations and our country's borders.
We see and know that the economic difficulties we have been experiencing for some time have whetted the appetites of some. Let them not get their hopes up. Let no one have any doubt that thanks to the measures we have taken and the program we have successfully implemented, we will leave this difficulty behind and emerge with our heads held high.
We will disrupt the 40-year game of the imperialists and their puppets in our region who direct our country's political and economic roadmap through terrorist organizations.
