Breaking News: Erdoğan's first statement on the 'offer to send Maduro to Turkey' claim
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan responded to the claims of an 'offer to send Maduro to Turkey' by saying, "We have received no such news."
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan answered questions from journalists after speaking at his party's parliamentary group meeting.
When asked about the US offer to Maduro to 'go to Turkey,' Erdoğan replied, "We have received no such news."
WHAT HAPPENED?
The New York Times had reported that the US had offered Nicolas Maduro the option to go to Turkey in exchange for stepping down from power before the operation. US Senator Lindsey Graham, in a statement made alongside US President Donald Trump, had said, "Maduro could have been in Turkey today, but he is in New York. He should blame no one but himself. Trump had offered him an exit."
ÖZEL HAD REACTED TO ERDOĞAN
CHP leader Özgür Özel, regarding the debate in question, had addressed Erdoğan at his party's group meeting yesterday with the words: "When Trump told Maduro to go to Turkey, did he ask Erdoğan, 'I'm sending him to Turkey, will you look after him?' or not? Did you know about this or not? If you knew and said yes, how could you say yes, why did you say yes? Didn't you say, 'My brother Maduro is an elected man'? If you didn't know, say you don't know. Couldn't you then turn to Trump and say, 'Who are you to take someone from another country and settle them in my country on your own accord'? Won't you be able to say it?"
