Breaking News... First statement from Ali Yerlikaya regarding the sunken cargo ship

The cargo ship named Batuhan A, carrying 6 crew members, took on water and sank off the coast of Karacabey, Bursa, in the Sea of Marmara.

While search and rescue operations by the Coast Guard Command and the General Directorate of Coastal Safety teams continue, a statement has come from Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.

Announcing that 1 Coast Guard corvette and 1 Coast Guard aircraft have been deployed to support the search and rescue efforts, Yerlikaya stated that 1 empty life raft has been detected in the area where the ship is believed to have sunk.

Yerlikaya's statement is as follows;

"It was reported this morning at 06.30 that a commercial ship named Batuhan A, with 6 crew members on board, began to sink off the coast of Karacabey, Bursa, in the Sea of Marmara due to severe weather and sea conditions.

2 Coast Guard ships and 2 Coast Guard boats were immediately dispatched to the scene, and simultaneously, 2 tugboats were assigned to the area by the General Directorate of Coastal Safety.

As a result of the initiated search and rescue activities, 1 empty life raft was detected in the area where the ship is believed to have sunk.

1 Coast Guard corvette and 1 Coast Guard aircraft have also been assigned to proceed to the area to support the search and rescue efforts.

1 Coast Guard helicopter, which cannot reach the area due to adverse weather conditions, is standing by and will proceed immediately once weather conditions permit.

Search and rescue activities initiated in the region are continuing."

Bu sabah 06.30’da Marmara Denizi’nde, Bursa Karacabey açıklarında içerisinde 6 mürettebat bulunan Batuhan A isimli bir ticari geminin ağır hava ve deniz şartları nedeniyle batmaya başladığı bilgisinin alınmıştır.
