Breaking News: Horrific accident on the Aksaray-Ankara highway! Bus overturns, many dead and injured!

A tour bus with license plate 45 HB 0560, driven by Nurhan Hazer, overturned for reasons yet to be determined on the Aksaray-Ankara highway near the Acıpınar location.

Numerous ambulances, police, and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the scene.

FIRST STATEMENT FROM GOVERNOR KUMBUZOĞLU

Aksaray Governor Mehmet Ali Kumbuzoğlu, who conducted an inspection at the scene, stated in his remarks to reporters that the tour bus was traveling from Balıkesir toward Cappadocia.

Stating that the bus overturned on the side of the road at the Acıpınar location, 25 kilometers from Aksaray, Kumbuzoğlu said, "Unfortunately, 6 of our citizens have lost their lives as a result of this traffic accident. According to initial findings, we have 25 injured. We have transferred them to Aksaray State Hospital. An investigation has been launched and is being followed. It will be concluded as soon as possible and the necessary actions will be taken. I offer my condolences to our Aksaray and pray for God's mercy upon those who lost their lives," he said.

MINISTER TUNÇ: 3 PROSECUTORS ASSIGNED

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that 3 prosecutors have been assigned regarding the bus accident that occurred on the Aksaray-Ankara highway.

In a statement on his social media account, Minister Tunç noted that a judicial investigation has been initiated by the Aksaray Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the bus accident in which 6 people lost their lives, and that 3 prosecutors have been assigned.

Tunç wished God's mercy upon those who lost their lives in the accident, patience for their families, and a speedy recovery to the injured citizens.

ALİ YERLİKAYA SHARED FOOTAGE OF THE ACCIDENT

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared the footage of the horrific accident captured by the traffic surveillance camera (MOBESE).

In his post on his X account, Yerlikaya used the following expressions:

"On the Aksaray Central district E-90 highway, a tour bus traveling from Balıkesir to the Cappadocia region, carrying 2 drivers, 1 guide, and 41 passengers, went off the road and overturned.

Unfortunately, 7 of our citizens lost their lives in the accident, and 33 of our citizens were injured, 2 of them critically.

I wish God's mercy upon our citizens who passed away and a speedy recovery to our injured."

NEW STATEMENT FROM YERLİKAYA: 1 PATIENT RESUSCITATED BY DOCTORS

In his latest post, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 1 patient was resuscitated by doctors.

Yerlikaya used the following expressions:

"NEW INFORMATION:

Thank God, 1 of our patients has been resuscitated by our doctors.

Our patient's treatment continues in intensive care as a critically injured person.

Our prayers are for our injured.

Unfortunately, 6 of our citizens passed away, and 34 of our citizens were injured, 3 of them critically."

'THE BUS OVERTOOK ME'

It was learned that the bus skidded for 90 meters in the horrific accident. Another driver who witnessed the accident, Mehmet Tayiroğlu, said the following:

-The bus overtook me. After overtaking, the bus started to sway left and right. I think the driver was asleep at that moment. I flashed my lights, honked my horn, but since my vehicle's speed was fixed at 80 kilometers, I couldn't catch up to it. It hit the barriers, skidded, and overturned.

One of the passengers, Ramazan Durmuş, also said, "I was sleeping. My seatbelt was fastened. I saw the car overturning."

DRIVER DETAINED

The driver, Nurhan Hazer (55), who was slightly injured in the accident, was detained by gendarmerie teams upon the instruction of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office following his treatment.
