Breaking News: IETT bus crashes into police vehicle! 1 police officer martyred
An IETT bus crashed into a police vehicle that was responding to a minor traffic accident in Bakırköy, Istanbul, resulting in the martyrdom of 1 police officer.
The accident occurred around 06:20 at the E-5 Highway South Side Road Ekrem Kurt Boulevard junction in the Osmaniye neighborhood of Bakırköy. According to the information obtained, while police teams were taking security measures on the road to respond to a minor accident involving a municipal police vehicle with license plate 34 BB 7783 and a car with license plate 01 AAJ 443, which had become slippery due to rain, an IETT bus with license plate 34 HO 1852 lost control for an unknown reason and plowed into the scene. The IETT bus, which continued moving after hitting a police officer and the vehicles, was only able to stop after crashing into the median.

1 POLICE OFFICER MARTYRED
Police officer Ogün Yürümez, who was on duty with the Traffic Inspection Bureau and was trapped under the IETT bus during the accident, was martyred at the scene. Numerous police teams were dispatched to the area. Crime scene investigation teams conducted long-term examinations on the road and the vehicles. Following the investigations, the body of police officer Ogün Yürümez was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute Morgue.

The police teams' investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
