BREAKING NEWS... Interim ruling in the Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi case
The court has issued its interim ruling in the second hearing of the case regarding 15-year-old Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who lost his life after being stabbed in Kadıköy, Istanbul. The trial has been adjourned until June 20.
The hearing held at the Anatolian 2nd Juvenile High Criminal Court was attended by the 15-year-old detained defendants U.B. and B.B. via the SEGBİS video conferencing system.
The mother of the victim, Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, Yasemin Akıncılar Minguzzi, and his father, Andrea Minguzzi, were present at the hearing along with the lawyers for both parties.
The hearing, which was attended by CHP Deputy Chairpersons Aylin Nazlıaka and Suat Özçağdaş, as well as AKP Istanbul Deputy Yıldız Konal Süslü, was held behind closed doors to the press and public due to a confidentiality and privacy order.
Zuhal Akman, the mother of university student Ata Emre Akman, who lost his life as a result of a knife attack in Balıkesir, also came to the courthouse to support the Minguzzi family.
Intensive security measures were taken around the courthouse and in the corridors on the day of the hearing. Some citizens chanted slogans while holding signs that read "Justice for Mattia Ahmet."
The court decided to continue the detention of the defendants and adjourned the trial until June 20.
