Breaking News... ISIS operation in Ankara: 17 detained
17 people have been detained in an operation against the terrorist organization ISIS in Ankara.
Members of the terrorist organization ISIS opened fire on security forces in Yalova yesterday. In the ensuing clash, 3 police officers were martyred, and 8 police officers and 1 night watchman were injured.
Following the clash, operations against ISIS were accelerated.
Detention warrants were issued in accordance with instructions provided within the scope of investigations conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Terrorism Crimes Investigation Bureau. As a result of the examination of digital materials obtained within the scope of investigations into members of the ISIS armed terrorist organization, it was decided that a total of 17 suspects—11 of whom are foreign nationals and 6 of whom are Turkish citizens—who were identified and for whom evidence of their connections to conflict zones and membership in the organization was established, would be detained as of December 30.
In a statement made by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that all of the suspects had been apprehended. It was noted that procedures for their referral to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office are being continued by teams from the Ankara Provincial Police Department's Counter-Terrorism Branch.
