Breaking News: Lütfü Savaş files for cancellation of CHP's 39th Ordinary Congress process

Former CHP congress delegates, including former Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş, have submitted a petition to the Ankara 42nd Civil Court of First Instance.

The petition requests a ruling for the cancellation of all elections held during the process of the CHP's 39th Ordinary Congress.

The petition alleges that the 21st congress held on April 6, 2025, and the 22nd congress held on September 21, 2025, were organized by the current administration with the aim of protecting its position through a method of "fraud against the law," separate from ongoing lawsuits. Therefore, it was stated that these congresses should be considered null and void.

EMPHASIS ON ABSOLUTE NULLITY AGAIN

The petition further states that the current administration has hindered intra-party democracy through summary executions and disciplinary processes against dissidents. It was emphasized that the "organized usurpation" of the congress will of a broad-based political party like the CHP is directly contrary to public order. It was noted that this situation falls under the scope of "absolute nullity" according to the Turkish Civil Code.

While the judicial process is ongoing, it was also requested that the current CHP administration be suspended from duty as a precautionary measure in order to "protect public order." The petition also requested that the actions taken against former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, as well as members of the Party Assembly and the High Disciplinary Board, be deemed invalid and that they be reinstated to their positions.
