Breaking News... Minister Kacır targets TÜSİAD! 'If the purpose of these speeches is to manipulate politics...'

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır made statements regarding the current agenda during a live broadcast he attended.

Responding to questions from Hakan Çelik on CNN Türk, Kacır targeted TÜSİAD.

Reacting to the statements made at TÜSİAD's General Assembly Meeting held on February 13, Kacır said, “If the purpose of these speeches is to manipulate politics, those days are gone, long gone. Under the leadership of our President, the era of tutelage has ended.”

Stating that "TÜSİAD should support national initiatives," Kacır added, "Our expectation from TÜSİAD is for them to do work that adds value."

Kacır's statements are as follows:

TÜSİAD's meeting took place with our President, and we watched the speeches made at that meeting afterward. A number of statements were made. I saw these statements as video clips. It is not accurate to form an opinion based on clips on social media and digital channels.

“IF THE PURPOSE OF THESE SPEECHES IS TO MANIPULATE POLITICS, THOSE DAYS ARE GONE”

I saw with regret that we made visits 10 thousand kilometers away and saw the echoes of Turkey's initiatives there. They said they were proud of our breakthrough as if it were their own success. Those 10 thousand kilometers away are proud of your success. Unfortunately, the industrialist association is making speeches full of pessimism and gloom from beginning to end. If the purpose of these speeches is to manipulate politics, those days are gone, long gone. Under the leadership of our President, the era of tutelage has ended. If the goal of these speeches is the economy, we must all work together for full independence. Our expectation from business people is that they stand with us on this journey. Look at where Turkey has come from. We are the country that exports the highest number of products in the most competitive way from China to the middle of Europe. I suggest they abandon pessimism and gloom. We do not discriminate against anyone. The world has stepped into an era where nothing is as it used to be. Everyone follows what is happening in the world every day; globalization is being abandoned. Every country is competing to bring production to its own soil. In such an era, one must be in immense competition. Our door is always open to every business person who wants to invest.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The speeches made at the General Assembly Meeting of the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) held yesterday (February 13) had become a major topic of discussion.

TÜSİAD President Orhan Turan reacted to the economic management by stating that the fight against inflation must accelerate. Emphasizing the rule of law, Turan said, "If there is no trust in the law, distrust, uncertainty, and instability will spread everywhere. A systemic risk will emerge. Even if it is possible to save the day, the future will be in danger."

In TÜSİAD's presentation titled "Extraordinary events in political life," TÜSİAD High Advisory Council President Ömer Aras also made striking statements. In his speech, Aras touched upon the arrest of Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ, the investigation launched into Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, the arrest of manager Ayşe Barım—who was under investigation for 'monopolization' allegations—in connection with the Gezi Park protests, the arrest of HALK TV Editor-in-Chief Suat Toktaş, and the young lieutenants dismissed from the army.

These words from TÜSİAD executives drew reactions from the government front.

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç had described the statements of TÜSİAD High Advisory Council President Ömer Aras as "completely ideological, a set of political thoughts."

The statements of TÜSİAD executives were widely covered in the newspaper headlines on February 14. Pro-government media had targeted TÜSİAD.
