Breaking News... Minister Yumaklı announces the latest status on forest fires: 'We may receive good news from Bursa'

Turkey has been battling forest fires for weeks. The fire, which spread rapidly due to the insufficiency of aerial intervention and the effect of the wind, has caused damage to forest areas in many cities.

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı made statements to journalists regarding the latest situation in the fires.

Stating that they fought 84 fires yesterday, Yumaklı said that 5 fires in 4 provinces have been brought under control.

"WE MAY RECEIVE GOOD NEWS FROM BURSA"

Minister Yumaklı spoke as follows:

"Yesterday, we fought 84 fires across our country, 36 of which were in forest areas and 48 in non-forest areas. The Mersin fire is under control. In Sivaslı, Uşak, intervention was carried out throughout the night; it has been largely brought under control and our cooling efforts are continuing. There is Antalya Gazipaşa, where cooling efforts are continuing; we are continuing to cool it as a precaution. The first fire that started in Bursa was in the Harmancık district, where our teams carried out a very intensive intervention. They showed incredible effort to cut off the path of the fire. It is largely under control. There is no problem for now with the 5 fires in our four provinces."

Drawing attention to the fires that are still ongoing, Yumaklı said, "Our Karabük Safranbolu fire, which we said would keep us busy and which has steep cliffs, is continuing. The fire in Kestel, Bursa, which we just spent 1.5 hours coordinating over, is continuing. I can say that the situation is improving. Smoke may be visible, and our teams are focused on a few specific points. Unless there is an adverse wind, our teams will provide better news here towards the evening. The other one is Kahramanmaraş Onikişubat."

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Yumaklı stated that all citizens should remain on high alert until October 15.
