A judicial and administrative investigation into the incident is ongoing. The preparatory investigation is being conducted confidentially by judicial authorities. The individuals involved in the incident have been arrested. The contracts of the contracted personnel have been terminated, and other personnel have been referred to the High Disciplinary Board. The unit commander, a Brigadier General, has been retired. In the incident in question, the duty station of the unit commander responsible for the border crossing gate has been changed.

It is impossible to accept such behaviors in the Turkish Armed Forces that shake the discipline that forms the basis of military service, which is based on our deep-rooted traditions of thousands of years and rules filtered from our national and moral values, and the necessary action has been taken immediately. Every measure is being taken to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.

Evaluating such isolated incidents in a way that casts suspicion on the entire Turkish Armed Forces carries no meaning other than harming our heroic army, which performs its duties with heroism and sacrifice against all kinds of threats and dangers to our country, both at home and abroad."

REGULATION ON MOBILIZATION AND STATE OF WAR PUBLISHED IN THE OFFICIAL GAZETTE

Ministry sources also noted the following regarding the Regulation on Mobilization and State of War published in the Official Gazette:

"In line with the constitutional amendments brought by Law No. 6771 on Amending the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey, due to the removal of the concept of 'statute' (tüzük) from the Constitution and the re-regulation of the title of Article 19 of the Mobilization and State of War Law No. 2941 as 'regulation' (yönetmelik) to ensure compliance with the current legal situation, and the adaptation of the Regulation to the changes in the State organization and the Ministry of National Defense organization with Presidential Decree No. 1,

In order to ensure that four separate regulatory acts, namely the Mobilization and State of War Statute, the Turkish Armed Forces Logistics Mobilization Preparations Regulation, the Turkish Armed Forces Personnel Mobilization Regulation, and the Reserve Personnel Deferment Regulation, are regulated as a single piece of legislation in the form of a Regulation that is more comprehensive and capable of meeting the needs of the era, the 'Regulation on Mobilization and State of War' was published in the Official Gazette dated May 22, 2024, and numbered 32553."
