Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç had announced that a large-scale inspection of judicial evidence rooms across Turkey had been initiated following the theft scandals at the Büyükçekmece and Adalar courthouses.
WHAT HAPPENED?
It was revealed that approximately 25 kilograms of gold and 50 kilograms of silver were stolen from the evidence office of the Büyükçekmece Courthouse. While Kemal D. was detained in connection with the loss, which has a market value of 150 million liras, it was determined that the evidence clerk Erdal T. had fled to Britain, and an application was made for a red notice to be issued against him.
At the Adalar Courthouse, it was understood that 12 firearms had gone missing from the Crime Evidence and Property Depository. In the incident where court clerk U.E. was arrested on allegations of stealing and selling the weapons, two weapons were found on U.E., and one weapon was found in the home of a suspect in terrorism and organized crime, while the remaining nine weapons could not be located. The Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had announced that the investigation was being deepened and continued.
