The indictment against Aziz İhsan Aktaş has been accepted by the Istanbul 1st High Criminal Court. CHP Leader Özel had alleged that Aktaş had fled abroad. The Ministry and the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had issued denials regarding these allegations.
578-PAGE INDICTMENT
In the 578-page indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Organized Crime Bureau;
200 people, including 40 who are currently under arrest, are listed as suspects, among them Beşiktaş Mayor Rıza Akpolat, Adana Metropolitan Mayor Zeydan Karalar, Adıyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere, Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, Avcılar Mayor Utku Caner Çaykara, Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar, and Seyhan Mayor Oya Tekin.
In the indictment, prosecutors requested sentences of up to 704 years for Aziz İhsan Aktaş, up to 415 years for the Mayor of Beşiktaş, up to 18 years for the Mayor of Avcılar, up to 9 years for the Mayor of Esenyurt, and up to 12 years for the Mayors of Adana, Seyhan, Ceyhan, and Adıyaman. The file for the Mayor of Gaziosmanpaşa was separated.
