It has been learned that the interrogation of the 20 people detained in the 3rd wave operation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has concluded and they have been referred to the courthouse. 2 people are still being sought.
In the 3rd wave of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into allegations of corruption at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, detention warrants were issued for 22 people on May 20.
The interrogation of the 20 people detained as part of the 3rd wave operation has concluded. The 20 individuals, whose statements were taken by the Gendarmerie, have been referred to the courthouse. It was learned that 2 people are still being sought.
It was reported that the statement-taking process for the 20 people referred to the courthouse has begun.
THE GENDARMERIE CONDUCTED THE OPERATION
The Police Department, which conducted the first 2 operations, was extending the detention process up to 4 days. It was noted that in the 3rd wave operation conducted by the Gendarmerie, the referrals to the courthouse were made before the maximum detention period expired.
The IMM investigation was first launched on March 19, and IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was detained in a dawn operation, was arrested on charges of corruption on March 23 and sent to Silivri Prison. In the second wave operation carried out on April 29, 18 people were arrested.
While the police conducted the operations on March 19 and April 29, the Gendarmerie was assigned to the third wave operation.
