Breaking News... New development in the IMM 'stock market' scandal: Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issues instruction to Police regarding Mücahit Birinci
Lawyer Mücahit Birinci, who resigned from the AKP, has been summoned to testify as part of the investigation launched following the exposure of the IMM 'stock market' scandal.
Following the IMM 'stock market' scandal exposed by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel with supporting documents, the Ministry of Justice had granted permission for an investigation into AKP lawyer Mücahit Birinci.
Following this development, an instruction was sent to the police for Birinci, who has since resigned from the AKP, to be brought to the prosecutor's office to provide his statement.
Birinci will testify as a suspect regarding the allegations brought to the agenda by CHP leader Özel.
The statement from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is as follows:
“Following publications and posts on certain media outlets and social media platforms on 04.08.2025, and in order to conduct an investigation into the allegations regarding the process and content of a meeting reportedly held in prison between one of the detained suspects under investigation and lawyer Mücahit BİRİNCİ, as part of the investigation numbered 2024/228233 currently being conducted by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an Investigation Permission Request was filed due to the suspect being a lawyer, and investigation permission was granted by the Ministry of Justice. In this context, a warrant has been issued to the Istanbul Police Department to have the suspect, Mücahit BİRİNCİ, brought to our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to provide his statement in the capacity of a suspect.”
