Breaking News: New wave of operations at IMM! Detention warrants issued for 53 people

Detention warrants have been issued for 53 people in operations targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Dawn raids were conducted at addresses in Istanbul, Ankara, and Tekirdağ.

As part of the operation, 47 people were detained following police raids on their homes, including IMM Deputy Secretary General Arif Gürkan Alpay, İSKİ General Manager Şafak Başa, İSKİ Deputy General Manager Begüm Çelikdelen, IMM Head of Zoning and Urbanization Department Ramazan Gülten, as well as Kadriye Kasapoğlu, Chief of Staff to IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, and Gözdem Ongun, wife of Medya A.Ş. executive Murat Ongun.

Dilek İmamoğlu's brother, Cevdet Kaya, is also among those detained.

Teams searched the homes of the individuals for whom detention warrants were issued. It was stated that 6 individuals are at large and efforts to apprehend them are ongoing.

On the other hand, it was noted that the number of detainees could increase.

STATEMENT FROM THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

In a statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the following was said:

"Within the scope of the investigation carried out by our Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; as a result of the simultaneous operation conducted on 19.03.2025, proceedings were initiated against 101 suspects.

In the simultaneous operation carried out on 26.04.2025 in the provinces of Istanbul, Ankara, and Tekirdağ regarding 53 suspects identified during the ongoing work following the operation, 47 suspects were apprehended and detained, and efforts to apprehend the 6 fugitive suspects are continuing. Searches in homes and workplaces are also ongoing."
