Breaking News: Operation at CHP-run Buca Municipality

In İzmir, detention warrants have been issued for 28 suspects, including the directors of licensing and inspection and zoning, as part of an investigation covering the Buca Municipality.

In the investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was alleged that certain zoning and planning procedures within the municipality were carried out in violation of regulations, given a legal appearance in exchange for bribes, and that unfair gains were obtained through these methods.

While detention warrants were issued for a total of 28 people within the scope of the investigation, it was reported that teams from the İzmir Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch are continuing their efforts to apprehend the suspects.

STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

In the statement made by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the operation, the following was noted:

"Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; instructions have been given to the İzmir Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch to detain a total of 28 suspects, including the Buca Municipality Licensing and Inspection Director, who were determined to have obtained benefits by issuing licenses as if they were in compliance with regulations for various zoning and planning areas that were in violation of regulations in exchange for bribes at the İzmir Buca Municipality.

25 suspects have been apprehended. It has been determined that 1 suspect is abroad. Efforts to apprehend 2 fugitive individuals are ongoing."
