While the detention period for Selçuk Tengioğlu, a repeat offender who attacked CHP Chairman Özgür Özel in front of the AKM, has been extended, a new development has occurred regarding the investigation.

The owner of the guesthouse where Tengioğlu stayed has also been detained.

Meanwhile, the processing of Tengioğlu (66) at the Istanbul Public Security Branch Directorate continues.

As part of the investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office following the attack, reports were requested from the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) regarding the suspect's HTS records and from the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) regarding his account activities.

Security camera footage of Tengioğlu at the hotel where he stayed in Beyoğlu before the attack had previously emerged. In the footage, Tengioğlu is seen drinking tea and chatting.
