Breaking News... Rezan Epözdemir's detention extended!

Lawyer Rezan Epözdemir, a well-known public figure, was detained at his home in the early morning hours by Istanbul Police on the orders of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Digital materials were seized during searches carried out at Epözdemir's home and office.

According to Halk TV columnist İsmail Saymaz, an investigation is being conducted against Epözdemir on charges of "bribery," "political-military espionage," and "aiding FETÖ." His passport has also been restricted on four separate charges.

HE HAD PLANNED TO TRAVEL TO LONDON

It was learned that Epözdemir had planned to fly to London in the early morning hours on the day he was detained. The lawyer, who was detained at his home before he could board his flight, will be held in custody for one more day on the orders of the prosecutor following his processing at the police station.

Rezan Epözdemir had previously represented Fernando Muslera and Selçuk İnan in the Seçil Erzan case. In addition to that case, Epözdemir had also represented the victim families in the murders of Pınar Gültekin, Münevver Karabulut, and Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi — cases that caused widespread public outrage.

WHO IS REZAN EPÖZDEMİR?

Rezan Epözdemir was born on 24 November 1984 in the Fatih district of Istanbul. Having begun his education in Istanbul, Epözdemir completed his primary schooling at Haznedar Abdi İpekçi Primary School and Dr. Refik Saydam Primary School. He completed his secondary education at Osman Ülkümen High School and graduated second in his class from Marmara University Faculty of Law in 2007.

Epözdemir completed his master's degree at Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Private Law, and his doctorate at the same institute's Department of Public Law with a thesis titled "Deferral of the Pronouncement of Judgment," earning the title of Doctor of Law.

Rezan Epözdemir launched his professional career in 2007 with the establishment of Analiz Hukuk Bürosu (Analiz Law Office) in Beşiktaş, Istanbul. He has represented victim families in numerous high-profile cases closely followed by the public.
