Breaking News: Second forest fire in Geyve, Sakarya! D-650 highway closed to traffic...
As efforts to contain the forest fire in the Geyve district of Sakarya continue, the burning area has been captured from the air.
A fire broke out for an as-yet-undetermined reason around 13:00 in a forested area between the Karaçam and Nuruosmaniye neighborhoods of Sakarya's Geyve district.
Upon reports from citizens who noticed smoke rising from the area, teams from the Sakarya Regional Directorate of Forestry and the fire department were dispatched to the scene.
Efforts to bring the flames under control are ongoing with intensive intervention from teams on the ground, as well as numerous helicopters and firefighting aircraft from the air.
The areas affected by the fire were captured from the air by drone.
Meanwhile, the Bilecik direction of the D-650 highway has been closed to traffic as a precaution.
