Breaking News: Statement from Devlet Bahçeli, who signed the framework law! ‘Demirtaş should return home, the Ahmets to their duties, and Öcalan should be granted the right to hope’

The framework law for the second resolution process—architected by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, branded by the government as a 'Terror-Free Turkey,' and conducted with the DEM Party and the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, Abdullah Öcalan—has been opened for signatures by members of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM).

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, the first person to sign the law, issued a statement.

REITERATED CALL FOR ÖCALAN'S RIGHT TO HOPE

Bahçeli once again reiterated his previous call for the 'right to hope' for the leader of the terrorist organization PKK, Abdullah Öcalan.

In his statement, Bahçeli also touched upon Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer and Mardin Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Türk, who were replaced by government-appointed trustees, as well as the imprisoned Selahattin Demirtaş, stating, "Öcalan should return to hope, the Ahmets to their duties, and Demirtaş to his home.”

Speaking to journalist Sinan Burhan, who is close to the government, Bahçeli said, "May this signature we have placed be auspicious and beneficial. With this signature, our thousand-year brotherhood has been reaffirmed once again. Everyone has won, whether Turk or Kurd, regardless of their language or identity. Our 86 million citizens and the peoples of the Middle East have won. At the same time, the first step has been taken toward dismantling global projects. On this occasion, I thank our President and our Speaker of the Parliament."

“This project is a state project. Our Parliament has taken the necessary initiative regarding this matter. Our state is carrying out the necessary work. We will all follow this process together,” said Bahçeli. When asked why he had not mentioned the process in his recent speeches, he replied:

“They ask us from time to time; why don't you mention the ‘Terror-Free Turkey’ process in your recent group speeches… We adhere to state decorum. Our President is closely following the process. Our Speaker of the Parliament is also handling the matter. We are supporting them. It is not right to get ahead of the work they are conducting.”

Bahçeli made the following remarks regarding the imprisoned Selahattin Demirtaş:

“I have not visited Selahattin Demirtaş. However, we communicate regularly through his lawyers, and I ask after his well-being. He also conveys his greetings to me. We have a good legal relationship. I also ask if he has any requests or wishes. I worked with Demirtaş in the Turkish Grand National Assembly.”

When reminded of his previous statement that “Selahattin Demirtaş should return home,” Bahçeli said, “I am saying the same thing again. Selahattin Demirtaş should return home, the Ahmets to their duties, and Öcalan should be granted the right to hope. Turkey must find peace. Our goal is for Turkey and the region to attain peace.”
