Allegations of 'bribery confession in court'! List of 53 judges and prosecutors submitted

According to a report by İsmail Arı from BirGün, businessman Fehmi Öztürk entered into a partnership with Fırat M. in 2014. In 2017, he wanted to end this partnership, but his partner refused to reach an agreement. Subsequently, Öztürk, who stated that his 50 million dollar assets and a 360 million dollar urban transformation and shopping mall project were "seized," turned to the judiciary.

PREPARED FRAUDULENT EXPERT REPORT AND DEMANDED A BRIBE

Fehmi Öztürk's former partner Fırat M., whom he accused of "seizing my assets," filed a complaint against Öztürk in 2018. Following this, the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office instructed an individual named Mehmet Doğan to prepare an expert report, despite him being "banned from serving as an expert." Mehmet Doğan, who had been an expert since 2003, prepared a fraudulent expert report intended to frame Fehmi Öztürk after meetings with Fırat M., former MP Cuma İ., and Süleyman Ö. It was alleged that Doğan then approached Fehmi Öztürk and demanded a 25,000 TL bribe, stating that "he could write the report correctly, but there would be a price for it."

CAUGHT RED-HANDED

After this meeting, Fehmi Öztürk went to the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and recounted what had happened. With the surveillance of police teams and a listening device placed on him, Fehmi Öztürk met with Mehmet Doğan and handed over the 25,000 TL in marked bills. The expert, Doğan, was then caught red-handed by police teams.

FORMER MP NAMED WAS NOT TRIED

Doğan was arrested and sent to prison on charges of "committing the crime of forgery of official documents by a public official in participation." Additionally, Fırat M. and Süleyman Ö. were also arrested, but notably, the former MP Cuma İ. was not tried.

THEY REMAINED IN CUSTODY FOR ONLY 52 DAYS

However, all three individuals were released from prison in 2019 after only 52 days in custody, with a decision for trial without detention. Mehmet Doğan's confessions in court were truly astonishing.

"THOSE WHO TOOK BRIBES FROM ME ARE TRYING ME FOR BEING A CRIMINAL"

In his written statement submitted to the court, Doğan, who was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe, said, "I stayed in prison for 52 days. I was released with a decision for trial without detention after paying 80,000 TL, which I borrowed from a loan shark and still haven't been able to pay back. In other words, those who took bribes from me are trying me for the crime of bribery... My release for trial without detention was secured after the 80,000 TL was shared with the Bakırköy 18th High Criminal Court panel. My previous requests for trial without detention, citing my health problems, had been rejected."

The scandals did not end there. While the trial was ongoing, on May 23, 2022, Doğan submitted a list titled "Bribery-taking Bakırköy judges and prosecutors." He stated that the 53 judges and prosecutors on the list had accepted bribes and that some were linked to FETÖ.

NEVER INVESTIGATED

However, despite all these allegations and the bribery list, no investigation was conducted. Some time after these astonishing developments, the President of the Bakırköy 18th High Criminal Court, E.K., and two member judges, M.D. and B.A.U., withdrew from the case. The new court panel has not concluded the case despite approximately five years having passed.

SUBMITTED A LIST OF ‘THOSE WHO TOOK BRIBES’ TO THE COURT

While the case is still ongoing, Mehmet Doğan has left questions unanswered. A large portion of the list that Doğan submitted to the court under the heading "List of bribery-taking judges and prosecutors against whom no action has been taken" consists of judges and prosecutors serving at the Bakırköy Courthouse.

Additionally, two prosecutors from the Büyükçekmece Courthouse, two judges and one prosecutor from the Anadolu Courthouse, and three judges and one prosecutor from the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice are also on the list. Next to the names of some judges and prosecutors on Doğan's list, there are notes such as "aiding and abetting those affiliated with the FETÖ terrorist organization."
