Bridges and highways that will be free during Eid al-Adha
According to the decision published in the Official Gazette with the signature of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, state-operated bridges, highways, and public transportation services will be free of charge throughout Eid al-Adha.
Transportation arrangements specific to Eid al-Adha have been published in the Official Gazette. With the decision bearing the signature of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, many transportation services operated by the state have been made free of charge during the holiday.
According to the published decision, citizens will be able to use the highways under the responsibility of the General Directorate of Highways, as well as the 15 July Martyrs Bridge and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, without paying any fees, starting from 00:00 on Thursday, June 5, 2025, until 24:00 on Monday, June 9, 2025. However, this practice will not cover highways operated under the build-operate-transfer model.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SERVICES ARE ALSO FREE
Urban public transportation services will also be free throughout Eid al-Adha. Accordingly, no fees will be charged for both urban rail systems and public transportation services provided by municipalities and their affiliated organizations from 00:00 on Friday, June 6, 2025, until 24:00 on Monday, June 9, 2025.
The lines covered by the free transportation include the following:
Başkentray (Ankara)
Marmaray (Istanbul)
İZBAN (Izmir)
Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme Rail System Line
Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport-Arnavutköy Metro Line
In addition, other buses, subways, trams, and similar transportation vehicles affiliated with municipalities will also provide free service.
