Brutality revealed by X-ray: Air rifle inserted into dog's anus

A horrific incident in the Bitez neighborhood of Muğla's Bodrum district has drawn a strong reaction from animal lovers.

A stray dog, cared for by local residents and shopkeepers, was shot and severely injured in the middle of the night. 

Citizens who saw the dog writhing in pain reported the situation to the Bodrum Animal Rights Association. Association members immediately transferred the dog to the Bodrum Animal Hospital to begin treatment.

Bodrum Animal Rights Association member Servet Sirmen described the shocking situation with these words: "A single bullet appeared on the X-ray, but when the veterinarians wanted to intervene in the wound, no wound marks were found on the body after the fur was shaved. A detailed examination revealed that the air rifle had been fired into the dog's anus, causing its colon to rupture and leading to the dog's death. This type of violence is inhumane behavior. We have applied to judicial authorities to find the perpetrators of this incident."

It was reported that in the last two months in Bodrum, some of the five dogs attacked with firearms have lost their lives, while others were saved at the last moment but left disabled. 

Following the incident, association members and animal lovers are demanding immediate solutions from the authorities to prevent such brutal attacks.
