Budget deficit reaches record levels
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance announced that the central government budget recorded a deficit of 100 billion 464 million liras in September, and 1 trillion 74 billion 18 million liras for the January-September period.
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance has announced the central government budget data for September 2024.
Accordingly, in September, budget revenues increased by 88.5 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching 831 billion 603 million liras, while budget expenditures rose by 63.4 percent to 932 billion 68 million liras.
Thus, the central government budget recorded a deficit of 100 billion 464 million liras in September.
9-MONTH DEFICIT EXCEEDS 1 TRILLION LIRAS
In the January-September period, budget revenues increased by 76.9 percent compared to the same period last year, rising to 6 trillion 84 billion 619 million liras. Budget expenditures also increased by 81.1 percent in the same period, reaching 7 trillion 158 billion 637 million liras.
Consequently, the 9-month budget deficit reached 1 trillion 74 billion 18 million liras.
