Budget negotiations in the Turkish Parliament postponed

Budget negotiations currently underway in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) were postponed after Saadet Party Kocaeli Deputy Hasan Bitmez collapsed while speaking at the podium. The session was suspended four times following the initial intervention for Bitmez and his subsequent transport to the hospital.

Following the fourth suspension, the General Assembly, presided over by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Gülizar Karaca Biçer, accepted a Consultative Committee decision to conclude today's proceedings.

BUDGET NEGOTIATIONS POSTPONED

With the accepted proposal, it was decided that the remaining portion of the first-round negotiations for the 2024 Central Government Budget Law Proposal and the 2022 Central Government Final Account Law Proposal, which were being discussed in the General Assembly today, will be held during the session on Thursday, December 21.

According to the proposal, the sessions following December 21 have been pushed back by one day. Consequently, the budget negotiations, which were scheduled to conclude on Sunday, December 24, will now be completed on Monday, December 25.
