Buğra Gökce speaks out from Silivri: We have debunked all 56 lies or slanders

Istanbul Planning Agency President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Buğra Gökce, who was arrested as part of the investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, addressed the public through a message published on his social media account. Stating that they stand firmly against the accusations, Gökce called on citizens to "not pay attention" to them.

Reminding that a month has passed since the operation, Gökce emphasized his commitment with the words: "It has been about 1 month since the rights and freedoms of Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu, myself, and our friends were usurped. In this process, 'trial without arrest' was possible. None of us were going to flee. We are people who love this homeland. Think about it, how could Mayor Ekrem, who received the votes of 15.5 million of our citizens, and we, leave our homeland and flee? On the contrary, no matter where in the world they force us to go, we would cross seas, rugged mountains, plains, and deserts to return to our beautiful country."

"WE HAVE DEBUNKED THEM ALL, NOW THEY ARE TRYING TO FIND NEW ONES"

Stating that they maintain their legal and moral stance against the slanders, Gökce said, "Of course, we love freedom. The guarantee of freedom is honor. We are honorable people. We love our homeland, this beautiful Republic, and our 86 million brothers and sisters who are equal and honorable citizens of this Republic today. We may be prisoners, but we also say no to our 86 million brothers and sisters being prisoners outside. We want a Turkey where everyone thinks and lives without fear. That is why we stand tall against a mentality that thinks it owns this country and sees the nation only as its servants and slaves. According to data compiled by the @ibbtekzip account, 56 lies or slanders were leveled against us in 30 days. That is 1.8 slanders every 24 hours. We have debunked them all. Now they are trying to find new ones," he said, drawing attention to the misinformation in the process.

"EVEN THOSE ASKING THE QUESTIONS WERE EMBARRASSED"

Sharing details about the interrogation process, Gökce said, "Thank God, our foreheads are clear, our heads are held high. Personally, I was asked about 7 'criminal acts'; in 6 of them, I was serving our people in Izmir as the Secretary General of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, and in 1 question, I stated that I had made an open tender decision. Even those asking the questions were embarrassed by the questions they asked. We are all like this. Just as the sweat of my father, a Cyprus veteran, is clean, the sweat of our Mayor Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu is just as clean, and we are just as clean," he said.

"THEY WILL DO EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER"

Stating that those who leveled the accusations continue their smear efforts, Gökce expressed his confidence in public support with the words: "Those who level 1.8 slanders every 24 hours, who lie, who enjoy luxury with the taxes and powers given by this beautiful nation, and who do not want to give up this luxury, will do everything in their power. But what is the use? According to polls, 2 out of every 3 of our citizens do not believe the lies and slanders they tell. They state that they will close this chapter as soon as the ballot box arrives."

Gökce continued his criticism by saying, "There are those who do not have the courage to face us at the ballot box in a brave and manly way. These are such people, unfortunately."

Furthermore, demanding that the judicial process be conducted transparently and fairly, he stated the following:

"The prosecution stages must be completed by ensuring the COMPLETE addition of other relevant information, documents, and findings to the case file, along with witness statements and CLEAR AND GENUINE EVIDENCE; if suspect Ekrem İmamoğlu and his friends are innocent, their ACQUITTAL, and if not, their sentencing, must be ensured in a manner consistent with the COLLECTIVE CONSCIENCE, and absolutely in the SHORTEST TIME possible."

"NEVER PAY ATTENTION TO THE WORDS OF THESE PEOPLE"

Reiterating his call by saying, "My dear friends, never pay attention to the words of these people who are alien to our nation's centuries-old culture, morality, and upbringing," Gökce emphasized historical and cultural accumulation:

"We are not a newly emerged community. On the contrary, we are a nation whose victories and history begin with human history, and which has always carried the lights of civilization along with victory. We know justice, we know rights, and we know the law and its supremacy. We will build the future together, we will succeed together, and we will win together."

He concluded his words with the following expressions:

"Just as we succeeded in Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, and Adana, we will succeed again. I love you, and as someone from your family, I say: The guarantee of all our title deeds, diplomas, rights, and freedoms is the ballot box and the constitution. Sovereignty belongs to the nation, we will succeed together!"
