Burcu Köksal reacts to Özgür Özel ahead of 'badge ceremony': He made my life miserable
CHP Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal made exclusive statements before joining the AKP and reacted to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.
Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal stated, "My husband did not commit theft or corruption, and he did not cheat in a hotel. Özgür Özel said in his message, 'You will beg for me to forgive you.' Özgür Özel made my life miserable." Köksal also added, "I am joining the AK Party tomorrow."
In her statement to Barış Yarkadaş for tv100, Köksal said the following:
I am joining the AK Party tomorrow, and I am at peace with it. There was no room left to engage in politics within the CHP. Ever since the party congress, Özgür Özel has been unable to forget that I voted for Kılıçdaroğlu. Özel made my life miserable.
The message Özel wrote to me, 'Divorce your husband,' was the mildest of the messages he sent. My husband is a man who makes a living through animal husbandry. He did not commit theft or corruption. He was not caught with women in hotel rooms, and my husband never cheated on me. There is no investigation against him; why would I divorce my husband?
I also saw Cemal Enginyurt's claim about threats. Let them first say who threatened me. I was threatened, yes, but it was Özgür Özel who threatened me.
'YOU WILL BEG FOR ME TO FORGIVE YOU,' HE SAID
When the discussions about joining the AK Party began 5-6 months ago, Özgür Özel wrote to me, 'I will come to power in 5-6 months and I will not forgive you.' He said, 'You will beg me to forgive you.'
There was no room left to engage in politics in the CHP. During the March 31 elections, fuel support was provided only once. When I disagreed with Ekrem İmamoğlu, they never sent a fuel card again, and I was systematically attacked by trolls. This CHP is not our CHP. I can no longer defend theft and corruption! In the past, those who committed crimes would be expelled from the party; now, everything is being legitimized.
I am not alone. I am a child of Afyonkarahisar. The reason they made me a mayoral candidate was because they wanted to get rid of me. I was the group deputy chairman at that time. They wanted to remove me from the deputy chairmanship seat. They embarked on this path thinking I wouldn't win anyway.
PARLIAMENTARY MAJORITY WILL SHIFT TO THE AK PARTY
Tomorrow, Dinar Mayor Veysel Topçu, affiliated with Afyonkarahisar, will also resign from the CHP and join the AK Party. He is a colleague who acts in unison with me. Seven municipal council members are also resigning. In the final picture, the majority of the municipal council will shift to the AK Party.
They brought buses from the CHP Headquarters to protest me. They sent messages for days. I counted in front of the municipal building; only 173 people came. It is quite a coincidence that the buses that did not come during the election time are coming now.
I will continue my services; I will do my job for my state and my nation. What is essential for me is serving the city. I had a 45-minute meeting with our President. Our President said that we would engage in politics together. I told him, 'I was always against you when I was in the CHP, but that CHP no longer exists. This CHP is not our CHP.'
