Burhanettin Bulut hits back at Sarı for 'using the Palace's language': 'Right to remain silent' debate grows within CHP
CHP spokesperson Müslim Sarı's use of the phrase "he exercised his right to remain silent" regarding the testimony process of detained Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has sparked a new debate within the party. In a harsh post on his social media account, CHP's Burhanettin Bulut claimed that the expression in question was the "language of the Palace."
CHP spokesperson Sarı's use of the phrase "he exercised his right to remain silent" while evaluating Ekrem İmamoğlu's testimony process has drawn sharp reactions on social media.
In his post, CHP's Burhanettin Bulut alleged that Müslim Sarı had adopted the rhetoric of the ruling power. Bulut stated, "The person who used the Palace's language by saying 'Ekrem İmamoğlu exercised his right to remain silent' has actually exercised his right to cozy up to the Palace."
"The Message Given is Very Clear"
In his post, Burhanettin Bulut said that the expressions used by CHP spokesperson Müslim Sarı were a political choice and "The message he gave is very clear: 'Wherever you stand, we are there too.'" he assessed.
The statement further noted that this approach harms the political line of the CHP.
"They are Distancing the CHP from Being an Alternative to the Government"
Continuing his post, Bulut said, "In line with the task assigned to them, these people are trying to turn the CHP, Turkey's leading party, from an alternative to the government into a spare tire for the Palace." he said.
Stating that this was not just a political shift in direction, Bulut added, "This is not just a political drift; it is a betrayal of the party's will, the voters, and the struggle. It is a surrender that goes beyond disgrace." he stated.
“The person who used the Palace's language by saying 'Ekrem İmamoğlu exercised his right to remain silent' has actually exercised his right to cozy up to the Palace.”
