Election campaign in Bursa: “A first will happen after 47 years”
The Bursa leg of the local elections was discussed in a joint broadcast by Bizimtv and HaberalMedya. CHP mayoral candidates described their election campaigns and the interest shown by citizens.
With 3 days left until the local elections, the Bursa leg of the election was discussed in a joint broadcast by Bizimtv and HaberalMedya. During the broadcast, 12punto columnist Aydın Keleşoğlu stated that CHP Metropolitan Mayoral Candidate for Bursa Mustafa Bozbey has gained significant momentum, and that instead of the Dombra song, Bozbey slogans are being chanted on the streets of Bursa.
In the broadcast moderated by Pelin Çırpan, Bizimtv Editor-in-Chief Şaban Sevinç shared his assessments of the local elections. Stating that the CHP will retain the municipalities it holds, with the exception of a few provinces, Sevinç said:
“I am expecting a very good result for the CHP. Both for Istanbul and other provinces. There is an atmosphere as if the CHP will emerge with quite high energy and morale. It will largely retain the metropolitan municipalities it holds. There is risk seen in one or two of them. But there is a situation where it could take one or two more important metropolitan municipalities against those. Bursa and Manisa are among these. Hatay and Antalya are in risky situations for the CHP.
In Istanbul, Mr. Ekrem is fighting against seven fronts. Since the beginning of the process, the AK Party has put all its power into it, even involving governors, district governors, and at times prosecutors, trying to pin the money-counting footage on Mr. Ekrem, but it did not stick.
The IYI Party, which was in alliance with the CHP until yesterday, has been effectively separated from the opposition and has moved to the side of the ruling power. Everyone is attacking it. Despite all this, he has shown that he is a very good politician and that he understands the sociology of society very well. He is conducting a very good campaign.
As of today, Metropol Research stated in a statement to Murat Yetkin that İmamoğlu is 10 points ahead.”
A FIRST IN BURSA AFTER 47 YEARS
Osmangazi Mayoral Candidate Erkan Aydın, who participated in the broadcast, claimed that Bursa would have a CHP municipality after 47 years. Aydın said the following:
“The metropolitan municipality will pass to the CHP after Mustafa Eroğlu in 1977. In Osmangazi, it will be a CHP municipality after 1987. Bursa has decided on change. They have made it mandatory for municipal personnel to attend Tayyip Erdoğan’s Bursa rally. They have measures such as recording them as they enter and leave, and counting all municipal personnel as being on leave. They are in a mode of ‘the President will come, pull a rabbit out of a hat, and we will win the election.’ This is the only topic they talk about among themselves. All the ruling party organizations think they will change things with one rally. The people of Bursa will show a yellow card to the ruling power in this election. We observe that they will perhaps show the red card in an early election within 1-2 years."
BURSA ALLIANCE FORMED
CHP Bursa Provincial Chair Nihat Yeşiltaş said, “Everyone has united in Bursa, a Bursa Alliance has been formed. They are now counting the days to introduce Bursa to social democratic municipalism.”
CHP Bursa Metropolitan Mayoral Candidate Mustafa Bozbey also announced that they have actually been preparing for the elections for 5 years. Bozbey said, “We are completing the unfinished film on March 31. All our projects are ready. Together, we will make Bursa smile. The CHP flag will wave in Bursa after 47 years.”
CHP Mudanya Mayoral Candidate Deniz Dalgıç, one of the candidates who participated in the broadcast, stated that he became a candidate with the movement for change within the CHP. Dalgıç announced that they want to explain and promote the values of Mudanya by establishing the Mudanya Promotion Agency.
The candidates who participated in the broadcast said the following:
CHP Gürsu Mayoral Candidate Haşim Öztürk: “We have been conducting a campaign for 75 days. There is more interest than ever before. Citizens are experiencing great economic difficulties. The rate of this reflecting at the ballot box is high. Gürsu is an agricultural city. The figures that diesel has reached and the insufficiency of the incentives provided by the government will be reflected at the ballot box. We are the future of the CHP. Many of our friends who come from within the provincial and district organizations have become candidates.”
CHP Harmancık Mayoral Candidate Haşim Arıkan: “We are determined to light the shepherd’s fire in Harmancık in 2024. The people of Harmancık also long for and expect change. We have regressed in agriculture and livestock. Citizens want change because we cannot receive any services due to the distance.”
