Bus driver arrested
Following the traffic accident that occurred yesterday in the Tarsus district of Mersin, 10 people lost their lives. The bus driver was referred to the courthouse and brought before the duty magistrate. The driver was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
The accident occurred yesterday evening in the Yenice Kütüklü area of the Tarsus district on the Mersin-Adana Highway. According to the information received, the Mercedes-brand passenger bus with license plate 34 SD 8821, traveling from the direction of Adana, skidded on the rainy road, overturned, and crossed into the opposite lane, causing a chain-reaction accident involving 4 vehicles, including a car, a pickup truck, and a truck.
SENT TO PRISON
Numerous police, gendarmerie, medical, and fire department teams were dispatched to the scene of the accident. 10 people lost their lives in the accident, and 39 others were injured. The injured were transported to hospitals in Adana and Mersin by ambulances arriving at the scene.
The bus driver, A.G. (45), was taken into custody. After completing the procedures at the gendarmerie, the bus driver A.G. was referred to the Tarsus Courthouse. The driver, who was brought before the duty magistrate, was arrested and sent to prison.
