Businessman Mehmet İlhan Gülay, arrested in IMM investigation, released
A decision has been made to release Mehmet İlhan Gülay, an Executive Board Member of Gülaylar Altın who was arrested as part of an Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) 'financial crimes' investigation, under house arrest.
Mehmet İlhan Gülay, the owner of several companies including Nişantaşı City’s, Meydan AVM, and Gülaylar Altın, who was invited to testify as part of a 'financial crimes' investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), faced accusations of bribery to secure a zoning variance for construction on his land in Ataşehir upon arriving at the courthouse to provide his statement.
Stating that he had his first meeting regarding the title deed in question before the 2019 elections, Gülay denied the bribery allegation but was arrested in connection with this charge.
It was revealed that the arrested Gülay provided three different statements within 24 hours.
The prosecutor's office submitted an opinion in favor of Gülay's release, and he was released under judicial control conditions in the form of house arrest.
