DEVA Party Chairman Ali Babacan made a statement on his social media account regarding the armed attack that took place in front of the İnci Üzmez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Turgutlu, Manisa.
Wishing a speedy recovery to the students injured in the attack, Babacan stated that these incidents should not be evaluated as isolated cases. Babacan called for the violence occurring around schools to be addressed not only from a security perspective but also through its sociological and psychological aspects.
"Today, we were shaken once again by news of a school attack. Such events did not use to happen in these lands. What has happened that we are seeing the third school attack within a year?"
In his statement, Babacan said, "It is not possible to dismiss these events as isolated cases. The issue must be addressed urgently and holistically, from sociological, psychological, and security perspectives; what is necessary must be done immediately to ensure such tragedies do not happen again."
